Technology :

Dynamic Gait Stabilization Outsole System.

  • Dynamic: The outsole adapts to each step and point of impact, absorbing nearly all shock energy.
  • Gait : Built in heel cup and arch support guide the adaptive reaction of FluidX Non Newtonian Protection to support your foot’s bio mechanical performance.
  • Stabilization: During large impacts stabilization of the joints is supported.
  • Performance comparison: Nike Janoski Lunarlon 53% energy absorption | FP DGS 91% energy absorption.
Construction:
Features:
Impact Energy:No shoe before has ever come close to the level of energy absorption in the FP DGS System. Expect an entirely new experience.
Board Feel:Because the DGS outsole has been hollowed out and filled with soft FluidX Protection material in the place of traditional rubbers and foams, the FP shoe has superior board feel and flexibility. It’s like a kungfu shoe that absorbs all the energy.
Joint Support:A deep heel cup and arch guide are built into the outsole which guides the impact and helps the ankle stay in a stable neutral position on big impacts and jumps, avoiding over pronation and helping to prevent serious injuries.
Kingfoam Insole:In addition to our revolutionary DGS outsole, each FP shoe comes stock with our signature Kingfoam Insoles. yes, that’s right. You’ll never have to fear a foot impact injury again.
Extended Durability:While other shoe cushioning materials start bad and end worse, our FluidX insert will continue to absorb energy from the first day of use to the last day. Simply put, it will out live the shoe.

Just got my first pair of Sentinels in the 2020 grey colorway in the mail today.

How they skate: I just came back from my first session with them and all I can say is daaaaang. As a member of the church of the vulcanized sole I was nervous about trying a cupsole. For about the first ten minutes I kept thinking, “the board feel is OK, but it’s not quite like a vulc.” Ten minutes after that I had forgotten about it altogether and had a good session… basically forgot that I had new shoes until I got home. Like I said the feel isn’t quite like a vulc, and I’ve never skated a cup so I can’t say how it compares to other cupsoles, but whatever it is it worked fine for me as someone who likes board feel.

Impact Absorption: I’m an old guy so I don’t skate super hard but I could tell I was getting some impact absorption I didn’t get in previous shoes, so happy there.

Fit: the toebox seems a tad wider than average which is good for me, but the front of the toebox is kind of low so there is some pressure on my big toe from the top. The length is perfect though so hopefully that will stretch out a little.

Appearance: the colorway is on point and the style is understated, which is totally in my wheelhouse. At first I did think the toecap looked a little goofy but the more I get used to looking down and seeing them the more I like it, particularly the way it matches the tongue that you can see peeking out between the laces.

Durability: we will see. I only skate 2-3 hours a week and my previous shoes made it 70 days before they died from a hole under the ball of my foot. They were some Nike SBs I got on sale for $50, so they cost me $0.71/day. At $80 these just have to make it 116 days to be better value for the money. But that doesn’t account for my comfort during that time, which is also valuable.

Conclusion: if the big toe loosens up and they last long enough these will be my go to shoe.
